It is usually said that irony is expressing some meanings through the use of words or circumstances that stand opposite to the actual meaning meant. It plays a significant part in majority of literary works because author’s often use irony to indicate a different meaning just like it has been used by Charlotte Perkins Gilman in her short story “The Yellow Wallpaper.” A closer exploration of the plot of the story and the condition of the unnamed narrator reveals the use of dramatic irony by Gilman throughout the story “The Yellow Wallpaper.”
